MALANG | JATIMSATUNEWS.COM - The Masjid Raden Patah at Universitas Brawijaya has successfully implemented a holistic sacrificial animal slaughter program as part of its effort to promote an internationally oriented ASUH (Safe, Healthy, Whole, and Halal) qurban initiative during Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri.
The program followed the success of the first “Holistic Qurban Livestock Management Workshop,” which was held on May 23, 2026. The knowledge and training gained from the workshop were directly applied during the qurban slaughtering activities conducted on May 28, 2026, corresponding to 11 Dzulhijjah 1447 H.
Ratno Bagus Edy Wibowo, Ph.D., Vice Chairman of the mosque management board, stated that the holistic program was designed not merely as a seasonal religious ritual but as a sustainable movement with a broader global impact.
“We designed this holistic program to create a global impact as an implementation of the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Muhammad. The program is intended to transcend time, borders, countries, and continents,” he said.
He also revealed the mosque’s long-term vision to develop processed canned qurban meat products that could be distributed more efficiently to various regions around the world, expanding the benefits of the program beyond local communities.

One of the most distinctive aspects of this year’s qurban implementation was the involvement of international students currently studying at Universitas Brawijaya. The students, representing various countries, were invited to participate as part of a mission to strengthen Global Friendship, Global Brotherhood, and Global Humanity.
Rather than simply observing the slaughtering process, the international students were encouraged to engage directly with the community and experience Indonesia’s Eid al-Adha traditions firsthand. They also received portions of the qurban meat and joined the organizing committee for a communal meal, fostering a spirit of togetherness and cultural exchange.

The management of Masjid Raden Patah expressed hope that the program would become a national model for other mosques in implementing hygienic, scientific, and Sharia-compliant qurban management practices. They also believe that the participation of international students can help promote an image of Islam that is peaceful, inclusive, and compassionate on the global stage.
Through this initiative, the mosque aims to spread the values of global solidarity and humanity, demonstrating how religious traditions can serve as a bridge between cultures and nations (JSN).
