Touched by a Heartwarming Story, Three French Tourists Visit Elderly Umrah Pilgrim from Pasuruan Carried by Her Son 

 

PASURUAN|JATIMSATUNEWS.COM - The inspiring story of an elderly mother from Tambakrejo Village, Kraton District, Pasuruan Regency, who performed the Umrah pilgrimage while being carried by her son, has captured the attention of three tourists from France.

On Saturday (April 19), the three tourists took time out of their trip to personally visit the elderly woman, who previously went viral on social media and was even featured in a national TV interview. The tourists—Lea, Lily, and Clementine—said they were deeply moved and amazed after hearing the story directly from the mother.

They could not hide their admiration upon seeing how healthy and cheerful she looked today. 

"This mother is truly extraordinary. She looks so healthy now," said one of them, full of emotion. 

The mother’s story went viral some time ago when a video of her performing tawaf (circumambulating the Kaaba) in Mecca while being carried by her son touched the hearts of many. Despite her old age and leg problems that made it difficult for her to walk, her spirit to complete the pilgrimage never faltered.

The French tourists had arrived in Indonesia via Kota Baru Station in Malang on Friday (April 18, 2025). Their main travel agenda was to explore the natural beauty of Bromo, Ijen Crater, and Bali.

Interestingly, their tour guide was Zainal Khozin, also known as Ojin, who happens to be the younger brother of Zainal Abidin—also known as Ebit—the Secretary of Tambakrejo Village and the son of the viral pilgrim. 

Equally inspiring is the story behind the Umrah journey itself. It was made possible thanks to the support of H. Decky, a kind-hearted police officer from Pasuruan and a member of the East Java Police Internal Affairs Division (Propam), who covered the cost of the pilgrimage for the mother and her son.

 The meeting between the tourists and the elderly mother was warm and emotional, filled with laughter and heartfelt moments. Lea and her friends said they had learned a valuable lesson about filial devotion and spiritual perseverance from the mother's story. 

"This was a spiritual experience we never expected. Indonesia is not only rich in natural beauty but also in touching, inspirational stories," said Clementine.

This unexpected visit became a special moment for the mother’s family and served as a reminder of how a simple act of love can transcend borders and touch hearts around the world. -
