KKI and Abdidaya Ormawa 2025 Conclude in Grand Celebration at UMM: Innovation Reaches the Finish Line, Solidarity Strengthens the Nation

MALANG | JATIMSATUNEWS.COM: Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) officially closed the 2025 Kontes Kapal Indonesia (KKI) and Abdidaya Ormawa in a grand and festive closing ceremony held at the UMM Dome Hall on Saturday (December 6, 2025). For the first time, the two prestigious national programs—representing maritime innovation and community engagement—were united on a single stage, creating a powerful atmosphere of collaboration, reflection, and national solidarity.

The closing ceremony marked not merely the end of competition, but also a moment to reflect on the strategic role of students in responding to national challenges. Thousands of participants, invited guests, and members of the academic community gathered to celebrate a shared vision that innovation and social responsibility must go hand in hand.

Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., praised the competence and dedication of the KKI and Abdidaya Ormawa participants, describing them as a selected group drawn from millions of Indonesian students striving to improve their capacities.

“You represent millions of Indonesian students who are working hard to develop themselves. Use this competition as mental and intellectual training. The nation needs a generation that is not only intelligent, but also strong in character and deeply caring,” he stated.

Prof. Fauzan emphasized that the closing of KKI and Abdidaya Ormawa should not be viewed as an endpoint, but rather as the beginning of a longer life journey. He encouraged award recipients not to become complacent, while motivating those who did not yet achieve victory to maintain their determination.

“This experience is capital for transforming your life toward a better future,” he added.

Beyond its ceremonial significance, the event was marked by a meaningful humanitarian moment. All attendees were invited to observe a moment of silence, pray together, and contribute to a fundraising initiative as a gesture of solidarity with victims of the recent floods in Sumatra. Prof. Fauzan stressed that social compassion is an inseparable part of community service and must always accompany academic excellence.

Inspirational messages were also delivered by Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.AP., Special Presidential Advisor for Hajj Affairs and Chair of the UMM Board of Trustees. He urged students to remain humble and avoid being quickly satisfied with their achievements.

“Do not be easily satisfied, and those who win must never become arrogant,” he asserted. Emphasizing perseverance, he reminded participants that faith and resilience are essential assets in achieving success, citing the Indonesian President’s perseverance in various national struggles as a powerful example.

Meanwhile, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, M.Si., highlighted collaboration as a key driver in producing impactful academic work and community service capable of accelerating Indonesia’s vision toward 2045. He expressed hope that this integrated implementation of KKI and Abdidaya Ormawa would inspire the UMM academic community and other universities to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation.

“May this event become a new source of energy and renewed spirit for all of us to continue serving the nation,” he concluded.
